Coventry City of Culture Trust and the Heart of England Community Foundation have made further grants available, beginning with two new funds available for new commissions and projects that will take place before the end of May 2022 when UK City of Culture closes.

Funding has been earmarked for four projects – with grants up of up to £7,250 each – aimed at developing programming specifically for children aged under five and their families, which offer a live experience.

Further grants have been set aside for three projects – up to £10,000 each – led by Black artists and creatives or by Black-led organisations as part of the Trust’s commitment to the More Than A Moment pledge – the West Midlands arts sector’s promise to take radical, bold and immediate action to dismantle the systems that have kept Black artists and creatives from achieving their potential in the arts and cultural industries.

Final applications must be submitted by 16 June and awards will be made from 7 July.

Tina Costello, Chief Executive of the Heart of England Community Foundation said:

“So far, through our partnership with Coventry City of Culture Trust, we have supported an amazing 140 organisations and artists through the Road to 2021 Fund, Get Ready Fund and 2021 Coronavirus Resilience Fund.

“We are thrilled to be making more grant funding available for exciting projects that can get underway and be delivered before May 2022.”

Martin Sutherland, Chief Executive of the Coventry City of Culture Trust, said: “We are delighted to be working with the Heart of England Community Foundation on another round of grant-funding that shows our commitment, once again, to creative and locally relevant projects that can be developed for Coventry 2021.

“It’s incredibly important that our year is inclusive and offers something for everybody in Coventry and this funding is a further example of how we are making that happen.”
