Meet Birmingham at IMEX
Birmingham was showcased at an international exhibition for the incentive travel, meetings and events industry. Birmingham Convention Bureau joined Visit Britain’s stand at IMEX from 25 – 27 May in Frankfurt.
Birmingham Convention Bureau was exhibiting alongside The ICC, to show the city and its venues to event organisers. Birmingham is one of Europe's busiest meeting points and home to a vast number of conference and meetings venues. The ICC is one of Europe’s premier purpose-built conference and meetings venues, offering a wide range of first-class facilities.
Ian Taylor, Commercial Director at Birmingham Convention Bureau said:
“We exhibit at key industry trade shows every year and IMEX gives us a valuable opportunity to engage with an international audience. Live events are an excellent way of raising the profile of the city and enable you to meet contacts face to face, so that you can really put forward the benefits of your destination. The events industry is important to Birmingham and the West Midlands and it is essential we proactively target organisers to come to the city.
“Associations are a key target for us as their events tend to be on a large scale and so generate substantial economic impact. They are the kind of events that Birmingham does very well, as we have venues large enough to hold several thousand visitors, 27,000 bed spaces across a range of budgets, and an excellent location at the heart of the UK’s road and rail network.”
Catherine Newhall-Caiger, Director of International Sales, The ICC said:
“The ICC is the UK’s premier purpose-built convention venue, at the very heart of one of the UK’s most vibrant and cosmopolitan city centres. As well as being the long-established venue of choice for associations, corporate conferences and niche events, The ICC is rapidly becoming the home of political conferencing, as the only UK venue to have hosted events from all the major political parties in the last three years.
“We are always proud to demonstrate our award-winning facilities and outstanding levels of flexibility, supported by our location and transport links and IMEX gives us an invaluable platform to demonstrate to a broader international audience.”
To complement the overall sport theme of Visit Britain’s stand, Birmingham Convention Bureau offered visitors the opportunity to win match day hospitality experience for two at Aston Villa Football Club, complete with flights and accommodation.
