Hot pants and corset wedges, zebra prints to glittering gold, as the new looks for
Spring/Summer '07 float down the catwalks of Fashion Weeks all over the world, it’s time
for girls to do what girls do best and flaunt themselves in the latest hot styles for 2007,
now made easy with Marketing Birmingham’s new Personal Shopping breaks at Harvey
Nichols and Selfridges.
With 1,000 shops in a 20 minute walk, the pedestrian friendly city of Birmingham is
recognized as one of the finest shopping centers in Europe. The Bullring’s is home to
the iconic and funky Selfridges, Massimo Dutti, Reiss, Links of London and G-Star stores.
A mere stroll away is the super chic Mailbox, where you’ll find a bijoux Harvey Nichols
and host of leading European designers from Emporio Armani to Ronit Zilkha and the
first UK store for Belgian designer Olivier Strelli, Birmingham is designed for ladies who
love to shop.
Marketing Birmingham’s Personal Shopping breaks begin with a gentle stroll through
Selfridges or Harvey Nichols with your own personal shopper. If that’s too much
activity, kick back and relax while watching your personal shopper do the legwork.
Personal shoppers know every latest hem line, inter-stitch and fabric to help you track
down the latest looks, all to fit precise needs and budgets.
After lunch in Selfridges Gallery Restaurant or Harvey Nichols Café, it’s back to the
beauty counters for some team talks about your cosmetic needs, with goodies for you to
try out and take home. At Harvey Nichols, your day also includes a makeover, a
Champagne and Truffles goody bag and a £30 voucher. At Selfridges, you will be
treated to a style at Umberto Giannini’s hairdressers and a goody bag.
Voted a city of ‘shopoholics’, Birmingham women are the highest fashion spenders in
Britain, shopping at least once a week and splashing out an average £1,813 a year –
£700 higher than the national average. This was no surprise to the city’s retailers, who
collaborated last year to launch Style Birmingham, the city’s big fashion campaign with
catwalk shows, events and offers that celebrate Birmingham’s official status as the UK’s
best shopping destination outside London’s West End and highlighting its talented local
fashion and jewellery designers.
“As one of the sponsors of Style Birmingham’s annual catwalk show, Marketing
Birmingham will be working with the city’s designers, retailers and design student to put
the city firmly on the fashion map and make Birmingham a stylish European capital by
2010.” said Dave Hodgson, Marketing Director, Marketing Birmingham.
Home to chic hotels such as Hotel du Vin, Malmaison and the new Radisson SAS
Birmingham, an overnight stay in the city is easily arranged if all you want to do after a
hard day’s shop is party harder…as Europe’s youngest city, it’s no wonder Birmingham is
known for its cosmopolitan and dynamic nightlife.
Marketing Birmingham’s personal shopping breaks are available every Saturday. Day
packages start from £28.75 at Selfridges Birmingham and £75 at Harvey Nichols
Birmingham, including a £30 shopping voucher.
