A contemporary festival, celebrating Birmingham’s finest restaurants, food,
drink, local produce and celebrity chefs
Following the hugely successful 2006 festival, Taste of Birmingham is back this
summer even bigger and better, as part of the national Taste Festivals tour,
visiting five major cities – Birmingham, Edinburgh, Dublin, London and Bath.
Taste of Birmingham will once again celebrate Birmingham’s finest food,
restaurants and drinks, with a fabulous mix of ‘gastro features’ designed to
educate and excite the discerning festival visitors. It will take place in the
beautiful surroundings of Cannon Hill Park from Thursday 5th July to Sunday 8th
July, 2007.
Taste of Birmingham, sponsored by Lloyds TSB CarSelect, will offer up to
25,000 visitors the opportunity to sample freshly prepared signature dishes from
20 of Birmingham’s top restaurants, as well as some of the country’s top celebrity
chefs, including Antony Worrall Thompson, Aldo Zilli, Jean-Christophe Novelli
and Andreas Antona.
Set in the al fresco surroundings of Cannon Hill Park, Taste of Birmingham is an
exciting opportunity to explore and enjoy fine wines, champagnes, speciality
beers, mouth-watering food and freshly mixed cocktails, as well as a chance to
improve your culinary skills, watch experts in action and relax with music
performances throughout each day.
Taste of Birmingham highlights include The Chef’s Demonstration Theatre,
where the biggest names in food will be showcasing throughout the festival, a
Wine Experience enabling visitors to wet their pallet, Delicious magazine
producers’ market, offering the best authentic local produce from the area, a
speciality beer academy sponsored by Leffe, as well as other special ‘foodie
heaven’ such as Channel 4’s River Cottage.
Guest chef Andreas Antona of Simpsons, comments: “I’m very proud to be
involved with Taste of Birmingham. Traditionally London has been the
gastronomic centre and it is good to see this is changing and expanding to other
regions. Birmingham has many culinary delights to offer and it’s great that we will
have the opportunity to showcase this.”

This year, the Taste of Birmingham Restaurant Awards return, giving the city’s

the Restaurant Awards will take place on Thursday 5 July.

Participating restaurants in Taste of Birmingham 2007 include Bank; Brasserie
Blanc; Cielo; Filini; Hotel du Vin; Lasan; Liaison; Opus; Simpsons; Thai Edge and
Wongs.
From Michelin starred restaurants to fresh organic producers, champagne to
locally produced cider, this is an experience not to be missed.
Tickets start from £12 and will be available from 30th March 2007.
