BCB Partnership With Centro Is Just The Ticket

The Birmingham Convention Bureau (BCB), a division of Marketing Birmingham, and
regional transport body Centro-PTA have announced a partnership to improve the
experience of people visiting the city for meetings, conferences, exhibitions and events,
by offering discounted travel on buses, trains and trams.

Event organisers will now receive a discount of between 25% and 40% on bulk
purchases of Network West Midlands one or three day travel tickets, with a minimum
purchase required of just 50 tickets. Tickets allow unlimited travel on the public
transport network in Birmingham, Coventry and the Black Country.

The move adds a new service to BCB’s Event Support Package, ESP, the highest quality
support of its kind in the UK. Launched earlier this year, ESP is designed to attract
national and international business tourism to the city by giving insight into the city’s
world class venues and culture, raising the stakes in the standard of events support.
The top level service includes e-campaigns, access to Marketing Birmingham’s
databases, banner advertising, web pages, city dressing, bespoke PR activity and
spokespeople for speaker opportunities.

The new partnership with Centro-PTA will enable conference and event organisers to
provide a full transport service to delegates, allowing them to travel freely and tap into
the city’s food and drink, shopping and sports as well as its music, arts and festivals.

Ian Taylor, Commercial Director, Marketing Birmingham said: “This partnership is
another string to ESP’s bow. Birmingham is an international meeting place for the
events industry. Guaranteeing the delivery of a first class event is not just about
creating a conference, it’s about allowing visitors to experience the city’s lifestyle and
see for themselves why Birmingham is recognised as a world class city.”

Centro-PTA chairman Cllr Gary Clarke said: "This package means visitors will be able to
get around easily hopping on and off Network West Midlands services. Ease of mobility
around a conference city is important to the city's image and competitiveness, so we are
delighted to be working with BCB to provide these added benefits for delegates."
