PR Manager wins top industry award
PR Manager Emma Ward has been crowned Young Communicator of the Year at a national PR awards this week. She received the honour at the Public Relations Consultants Association (PRCA) Awards held in London on Tuesday.
Emma has worked at Marketing Birmingham for nearly four years. She was also responsible for liaising with the BBC to attract them to Birmingham. The result was a 9 minute feature on Birmingham on the BBC Holiday programme in 2007, attracting 4 million viewers.
Emma also created the PR campaign for Taste of Birmingham 2009, generating £1.5m worth of media coverage across regional and national press. This is the first year Marketing Birmingham has managed the food festival and it attracted a record number of people with over 14,000 people over four days. Taste of Birmingham was also shortlisted for PRCA Media Relations Award in house, alongside M&S and Aviva.
Dave Hodgson, marketing director at Marketing Birmingham, says:
“We delighted for Emma, to win a PRCA Award is a fantastic achievement and really reflects her success to date. It also shows that Marketing Birmingham has made its mark in the industry with outstanding individuals and campaigns.
“This national award win is proof that the work we do not only achieves real results, but has an outstanding impact on the industry as a whole.”
The PRCA nominations mark the end of a successful year with Birmingham being crowned as the Best UK City at the influential Group Leisure Awards 2009. Now entering their 29th year, the PRCA Awards provide a showcase for the best that the UK's PR industry has to offer.
