DOUBLE WIN FOR MARKETING BIRMINGHAM

Marketing Birmingham has scooped two awards at the Chartered Institute of Public Relations
(CIPR) PRide Awards held at the Burlington Hotel on 30th November - the Gold for ‘Integrated Campaign’ for Birmingham Bites and Silver for ‘Outstanding In-House Public Relations Team’.

The Integrated Campaign category has to demonstrate the integrated use of communications, including marketing, advertising and public relations techniques, to achieve
its objectives. With the ‘Outstanding In-House Public Relations Team’ this award recognises
excellent work by an in-house team over a period of up to three years. Judges were looking
for examples of successful campaigns, as well as details of how PR is valued within the
organisation. Marketing Birmingham had to submit two separate submissions in any of the
other categories so that the judges could determine overall PR skills over a number of
projects.

Head of PR & Corporate Affairs at Marketing Birmingham, Tracey Saunders said: “Winning
the CIPR 2007 PRide Gold Award for Integrated Campaign is a fantastic accolade. The
marketing and PR teams are delighted that the work we’ve been doing on behalf of
Birmingham’s culinary offer with the Bites campaign has been recognised by industry peers
for the positive impact on the city’s reputation as a culinary destination. For our team to also
be thought of as one of the best in the Midlands is an added bonus.”

The CIPR PRide Awards have grown in strength and stature, recognising public relations
success and achievement in the nations and regions. There were 1456 entries UK-wide this
year. The PRide Awards is the only awards scheme that showcases the best PR work being
done outside of London, divided into eleven geographical regions. The judging process is
rigorous with a national panel of industry experts assessing the shortlisted entries and
choosing the medalists for each of the 22 award categories.

Bron Eames, Chair of CIPR Midlands region said: “The PRide Awards showcase the excellent PR work being done in the Midlands and the contribution this makes to business and society. Having faced a rigorous judging process, to come out on top is a tremendous
achievement and I congratulate all of the 2007 winners.”
