Rainforest Symphony

This half term, the Birmingham Repertory Theatre invites you to come on an exciting sensory journey into the rainforest to find the real home of Acapella, a frog who has accidentally arrived in a delivery of fruit!
Join in an expedition to find Acapella’s real home with Gaia, the fruit delivery lady, and Hourani, a local tribel Elder, who guide them in learning about the animals and discovering the wonder of the rainforest. As they travel together they create their own unique music using their voices, bodies and a range of percussion instruments in this magical adventure from The Play House’s Language Alive! programme.

Museum of the Jewellery Quarter activities

Come along to the Jewellery Quarter in half-term and get the kids using their imagination to create inspired arts and craft pieces.
Activities include:
Tick Tock workshop: The family can make collages out of cogs, dials, springs and other watch parts in this free drop-in craft activity. (1.30pm - 3.30pm, 28 Oct).
Creative Jewellery Making: Children over 7 years can be inspired by the Museum's own bamboo bangles and texture metal beads to create their own necklace with a local silversmith. (£3.00 per person. Booking essential (0121 554 3598) 1.30pm - 3.30pm 29th Oct).

Birmingham Back to Backs

Come along to the Birmingham Back to Backs from 11am – 4pm on 31st October to take part in some Hallowe’en fun. Be greeted by the guides and staff dressed in costume, sit with the kids and scare yourself silly with ghost stories, take part in apple bobbing and other Hallowe'en activities and fun in the courtyard. Adults £5.15, child £2.60, family £12.90. Booking Advisable 0121 666 7671. Places for ghost story-telling need to be booked in advance as places are limited.

The Big Draw!

Come down to the Thinktank Museum and get involved in some massive artwork! Whether joining together to make some group art or creating something on your own, this month celebrates the Campaign for Drawing's 10th anniversary by letting you get creative.
1st Oct to 31st Oct, Weekends and school holidays only.


At the Thinktank throughout October and November there is a range of other fun shows and performances including ‘Meet the Scientist/ Artist’ sessions (Mon 26 - Fri 30 Oct), a ‘Science vs. Art’ costumed battle in the museum (Sat 31 Oct). 0121 202 2222.

Ghosts and Ghouls Week

Come to Cadbury World for a Ghost and Ghouls Halloween Weekend. Join in the fun by dressing up in your Halloween costumes to be in with a chance of winning a prize. Scrooge at the Hippodrome

Bill Kenwright presents Tommy Steele in Scrooge, the award- winning musical based on Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. Tommy Steele, pop legend and star of such Hollywood hits as The Happiest Millionaire, Finian’s Rainbow and the legendary Half A Sixpence, returns to the role that he has made his own - Ebenezer Scrooge, in the record-breaking London Palladium production of Scrooge. Tue 20 - Sat 31 Oct.

Drayton Manor Theme Park will this Autumn stage what promises to be its biggest and most spectacular firework and laser display for the launch of its Diamond Jubilee celebration. The displays, which will take place on Saturday 31st October and Sunday 1st November, will be accompanied by music and will set the night sky alight with all the colours of the rainbow. In the run up to this fireworks extravaganza, Drayton Manor will treat children, parents and grandparents to a week of spooky fun the half-term holiday (Monday 26th to Friday 30th October). This includes a brand new Halloween film in the 4D Cinema.
