On Board for the Future of the City
The city’s 65,000 Higher Education students are returning to their studies to find a bus, complete with on-board diary-cam, waiting to find out what they think about student life in Birmingham.
The National Express West Midlands bus is visiting the city’s three largest universities and during a two hour session at Birmingham University, Aston University and Birmingham City University, new and existing students will be encouraged to board the bus and talk about their interests and hopes for the future along with their top places to eat out, have fun and brush up on culture.
The footage from the sessions will be uploaded onto the new Birmingham Live and Learn website for prospective and current students to use as information resource.
The venture is part of a national campaign to encourage students to pick Birmingham as their first choice destination.
Sponsored by National Express West Midlands, the Live and Learn campaign includes a website www.birminghamliveandlearn.co.uk, a cinema advert, a booklet, site specific video streaming, social networking and email marketing.
Prospective students will be able to go online and get a full and rounded picture of student life in the city; from the bars and clubs to the shops and art galleries, the website shows that the city truly has something to offer everyone.
The city's universities are attracting more and more applications each year with an increasing number of students picking Birmingham as their first or second choice.
It is intended that the next phase of the campaign will include all five of the city’s universities and further education colleges. There will also be a focus on the importance of graduate retention and recognition of the invaluable contribution that young professionals make to the city.
