Marketing Birmingham Members Take Nine Gongs at Excellence in Tourism Awards
Marketing Birmingham is celebrating a bumper night for its commercial members at the
Excellence in Tourism Awards 2007.
Nine of the destination marketing agency’s members picked up awards at the glittering event at the Town Hall, reflecting their hard work throughout the year in offering unrivalled services and facilities for visitors to the region.
The winners were:
• Heritage Motor Centre, Warwickshire, which scooped Gold in the Business Tourism Award category
• Woodside, Warwickshire, which took Silver in the same category
• The Belfry Hotel, Sutton Coldfield, which won Silver in the Sustainable Tourism category
• Kinnaree Thai Restaurant, Birmingham city centre, which was Highly Commended in the
Taste of England category
• Brockencote Manor, Worcestershire, which won Silver in the Small Hotel/Townhouse of
the Year
• Holiday Inn, Solihull, which took Gold in Large Hotel/Townhouse of the Year
• Coombe Abbey, which was Highly Commended in the same category
• RAF Museum, Cosford which won Gold in the Large Visitor Attraction of the Year
category
• Drayton Manor Theme Park in Staffordshire, which won Silver in the same category
Dave Hodgson, Marketing Director at Marketing Birmingham said: “We’re delighted that so many of our members were recognised at the awards and extend our congratulations to them all. Tourism is a major industry for Birmingham and the wider region, supporting employment and generating income for the local economy. Competition to attract visitors is strong, but with 30.4 million people coming to Birmingham in 2006 and an increase of 1 million from 2005, we are continuing to perform well and encouraging best practice through such initiatives as these awards will help us to stay ahead of the game.”
