The inaugural Birmingham Style Awards will take place in the city on Thursday 1st November,
organised by Retail Birmingham.
The event will be hosted by Heart FM’s Steve Denyer and musical entertainment will be provided by swing singer Ray Quinn who shot to fame last year on The X Factor.
The Style Awards, which will be held at The Macdonald Burlington Hotel on New Street, will
celebrate all things stylish in the city and winners will be chosen by public voting online at
www.stylebirmingham.com, with all those who vote being entered into a free prize draw to win
one of five pairs of tickets to the event. As well as categories to recognise Birmingham’s shops and venues, members of the public are being asked to nominate Birmingham’s most stylish male and female, with the two winners receiving an exciting prize.
The awards form part of the new Style Birmingham campaign, collectively designed on behalf of 1,000 shops in the city centre to promote Birmingham as a shopping and fashion capital of the UK, with the range and quality to rival leading European cities. Other elements of the campaign include national advertising, a retail directory, fashion shows, and a website which is now live at www.stylebirmingham.com.
Steve Denyer, host of the Birmingham Style Awards 2007 said: “I’m really excited to be hosting the first Style Awards next month. It’s a great chance for the city to celebrate its style and fashion credentials and I can’t wait to see who wins Birmingham’s vote for the most chic people and places around.”
Nigel Godfrey, who is overseeing the Birmingham Style Awards said: “Style Birmingham
represents 1,000 retailers in the city centre, as well as hotels, bars, restaurants and other
businesses. We are therefore ideally placed to be the voice of style and we felt that it was time for people, shops and businesses to have their style credentials recognised.
“The awards will be the first major event in the Style Birmingham campaign and will give us the opportunity to show the city and region what we can do. I hope it will become a regular must–see event in Birmingham.”

• Birmingham’s Best Style Accessories Retailer (handbags/shoes/jewellery)
• Birmingham’s Best Lifestyle Offer (hair salons, beauty salons, spas)
• Birmingham’s Best Homestyle Offer (furnishings, etc)
• Birmingham’s Best Style on a Budget
• Birmingham’s Most Stylish Personality
• Birmingham’s Most Stylish Male (member of the public)
