Marketing Birmingham's Latest Signing

Marketing Birmingham has appointed Kate Eccles MCIPR, as their new PR Manager. Kate has signed up to help promote the ‘Birmingham Feel The Heat’ arts campaign and ‘1
Birmingham’ sports campaign to regional, national and international media.

Tracey Saunders, Head of PR and Corporate Affairs, said: “Kate has joined us at a really
opportune time. The amount of media visits we have hosted has doubled since last year and
we’re busier than ever, so Kate’s support on the arts and sports campaigns will be invaluable.
In her previous role Kate managed to get dinner ladies on the GMTV couch and made sure
that a visit by Gordon Brown went smoothly, so she’s more than equipped to cope with the
weird and wonderful daily challenges we face of promoting Birmingham!”

Kate was previously at City of Wolverhampton College where as PR Manager for four years
she was responsible for public relations planning, strategy and media relations for all of their
departments. Kate has also provided PR support for Sandwell College and the Chicken Shed
theatre company in London. She is an award-winning public relations professional and media
and communications graduate from the University of Central England.

Kate added: “I am very excited about my new role. 2008 is set to be a major year, for both
art and sports events in the city, so I’m looking forward to working closely with the city’s arts
and sports organisations to let everyone know that Birmingham is one of the hottest
destinations around.”
