Free Evening Event at Thinktank The Lunar Society 2009 Annual Lecture- After Darwin’s Watch

On Monday 23 March 2009, internationally renowned mathematician and broadcaster, Professor Ian Stewart will be visiting Thinktank, Birmingham Science Museum to deliver an inspiring talk about the key discoveries on human evolution since Darwin. This special event is supported by The University of Warwick and Ebury Press and free to attend.

In the 200th anniversary year of Charles Darwin's birth, this 6th Annual Lecture by the Lunar Society will explore the development of Darwin's theory and the major discoveries on human advancement since that time.  The audience will be taken through the basics of Darwin's theory and Ian Stewart will then explain the major developments in understanding of evolution since then, such as genetics and DNA.  Ian will also discuss recent discoveries that are changing how scientists think about evolution today and in the future.

Professor Ian Stewart is the Professor of Mathematics at the University of Warwick, and an internationally renowned mathematician, broadcaster, Royal Institution Christmas lecturer, Fellow of the Royal Society and co-author of the 'Science of Discworld' series with Terry Pratchett and Lunarman Jack Cohen.  Ian has also written numerous other popular science books on  subjects including the Chaos theory and Extra-terrestrial life.
