Wetherspoons Expands at Birmingham Airport

Passengers travelling through Birmingham Airport’s Terminal One Departure Lounge now have even greater choice to wine and dine whilst waiting for their flights with the opening of a new JD Wetherspoon bar and restaurant.

The new facility, which has led to the creation of 35 new full and part time jobs, offers a wide selection of hot and cold meals and snacks, plus alcoholic and soft beverages. The pub is in addition to JD Wetherspoon’s two other outlets in the main Terminal One catering area and in the Terminal Two departure lounge.

Richard Gill, the Airport’s Head of Market Development – Commercial said, “We’re very pleased to be extending our relationship with the JD Wetherspoon’s team, which has been present here since July 2004. We believe that the strong JD Wetherspoon brand will be a success with our passengers, as it is in our other outlets in Terminals 1 & 2.”

Wetherspoon’s Manager at the Airport, Steve Baldwin, said: “I am looking forward to welcoming customers into the new-look pub and believe it will be a good addition to the Airport’s facilities. In this current economic climate it’s great to be creating new jobs and giving people a nice start to their travels from Birmingham.”
