Yonex All England Open Badminton Championships 7-11 March 2007
Watch Nathan Robertson and Gail Emms attempt to reclaim their Yonex All England title in the richest 'All England' ever.
For the second year in a row a record crowd for the All England at the NIA, Birmingham witnessed a fantastic performance from England’s Olympic Silver medallists Nathan Robertson and Gail Emms. Nathan and Gail played fantastically well to get to the 2006 Yonex All England Final, destroying the World Champions, Nova Widianto & Lilliyana Natsir from Indonesia in the semi finals and then having five match points against the great double Olympic Champions Zhang Jun and Gao Ling only to unfortunately lose them all and ultimately the final. Can Nathan and Gail win back the title they won in 2005 and so nearly defended in 2006? Watch them while you can as they build up to another assault on that Olympic title in Beijing 2008*.
Of course there is much more to see at the National Indoor Arena than our Olympic Silver medallists there is also the astonishing speed of China’s Lin Dan, all time Danish great Peter Gade, our own Commonwealth Women’s Singles Champion Tracey Hallam who recently beat World Champion Xie Xingfang at the Malaysian Open and many, many more of the World’s greatest players. Also don’t miss the great bargains in the renowned Yonex Retail Village on the NIA concourse!
For 2007 the Yonex All England is not only a crucial tournament for the top players in the pursuit of Olympic qualification points, it will also boast it’s highest ever prize money - $200,000!
