T-Mobile Street Ice Skates Ahead
T-Mobile Street Ice has skated ahead this year with ticket sales already up by 30% against the opening week of last year.
Over 50,000 people visited T-Mobile Street Ice last winter and organisers hope even more people will be able to experience Birmingham’s only outdoor ice rink as it returns for a second consecutive year to Birmingham’s Centenary Square.
Councillor Ray Hassall, Birmingham City Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure, Sport and Culture explains, “We hope to host in the region of 75,000 people at T-Mobile Street Ice this year, we are looking to build on the success of last year’s event and have focused our efforts on enhancing the experience this winter. We are also providing a free school bus shuttle service to and from T-Mobile Street Ice and giving groups a discounted rate. The Winter Lounge, with fantastic views over the ice is also a great place to relax with a drink, even if you don’t fancy skating yourself!”
Toby Hester, Head of Sponsorship for T-Mobile today said, “It’s fantastic that T-Mobile Street Ice has got off to such a great start this year and that we will be able to bring more people than ever closer to their perfect winter!”
T-Mobile Street Ice, Birmingham’s only outdoor ice rink experience, in partnership with Birmingham City Council and supported by BRMB and Ice Associates, is open until 14 January 2007. Tickets start from just £5, with a family ticket permitting two adults and three children from only £20. Discounts are available for groups of 10 or more and school parties.
