Sanctum at One Ten unveils new look and menu
Sanctum, the restaurant located within One Ten, the popular bar in Birmingham’s business
district has unveiled a new look and new menu. The Grade II former Scottish Union
Insurance Banking Hall on Colmore Row is now a stunning four storey venue that is also
home to private members’ bar, Alhambra, and the city’s only roof garden.
Located at the foot of One Ten’s impressive spiral staircase, Sanctum has adopted a less
formal style in dining with an emphasis on quality, unpretentious fare. The diverse menu
continues to offer fresh food, with international influences with dishes such as Spring Onion
and Ginger Crab Cakes; Spinach and Roquefort Gnocchi; and Singapore Noodles.
Sanctum regulars won’t be disappointed with favourites Chicken Yakitori and Crispy
Aromatic Duck Pancakes remaining on the menu. A tempting array of heartier dishes have
been added such as Steak & Guinness Pie, Lashfords Sausages, Boston Beans and
Poached Egg while the popular Burger selection has been enhanced to include Chilli,
Barbeque, Blue Cheese and Bacon & Cheese options.
Head Chef George Gordon has devised a menu that is as appealing to those looking to
linger over their food as those wanting to grab a bite over a business lunch. The emphasis is
on fresh food made from the finest ingredients, sourced locally wherever possible and a
selection of specials that change every day means that every taste can be catered for
Sanctum’s new look is reminiscent of a modern French bistro café; sophisticated yet warm
and intimate with 40 covers. The dining area is flanked with luxuriously upholstered
banquette seating in warm earthy colours perfect for a snug dinner date or larger parties.
Softly lit, the restaurant maintains the perfect ambience, day or night.
One Ten Director, Natasha Nash, said: “We’ve noticed that Sanctum has become popular
for informal business meetings, lingering lunches and post-work drinks and food. We’ve
changed our menu to reflect this, it’s now the perfect place for both casual dining or
something more formal.”
Sanctum diners can enjoy pre or post meal cocktails from the extensive menu at One Ten
which has live music on Thursday and Friday evenings or enjoy a bottle of rare Moet Vintage
in private members bar, Alhambra. Those looking for stress relief after a hard day at the
office can indulge in a session on the X-box in the gaming room, the only one of its kind in
the city.
