Celebrate the Best of Birmingham at ThinkTank

This autumn, Thinktank is celebrating the very Best of Birmingham. From exploring the city’s rich industrial heritage to finding out about the great thinkers from the region, visitors to Thinktank can discover the science and technology behind the UK’s second city, and see what makes Birmingham so great. The Best of Birmingham Season is now running
until 31 December 2010.
Weekends and School Holidays, visitors can take part in the new Brilliant Brummies Science Show. In this fun, demonstration-packed show, visitors will find out what innovative, industrial and scientific discoveries have come out of our great city. For younger visitors, there is Monty the Mouse’s Chocolate Adventure Storytelling. Kids can join Monty the Mouse on his incredible journey from the tropical rainforests of Ghana, to George Cadbury's Victorian chocolate factory in Birmingham.
Plus, budding architects can take part in the Build Your Own Birmingham Workshop (suitable for over 10s). Kids can learn how to build three dimensional models of Birmingham landmarks using 3D modelling software. Thinktank staff will teach kids all the skills that they need to carry on building in their own home. (£1.95 to Thinktank visitors)
Thinktank is also pleased to welcome an interesting new character to its galleries this autumn. The charming RoboThespian is a life-sized humanoid robot and automated interactive actor. Throughout September and October 2010, visitors to the museum will be able to see the robotic actor come to life in the interactive Futures Gallery. RoboThespian is controlled by touch screen, and visitors can take control of his actions and appearance by changing his mood, making him laugh, cry and even dance. Visitors can also instruct him to perform pre-programmed set pieces including a range of impressions, dramatic performances and songs.
RoboThespian’s arrival at Thinktank coincides with the run up to the British Science Festival, taking place in Birmingham 14 - 19 September 2010. Throughout the week there will be a host of fun and informative events and activities across the city, including workshops, seminars, dramas and debates.
