Professor in the kitchen
Opus Restaurant is delighted to announce that David Colcombe, Chef Director, has had conferred upon him the title of Honorary Fellow of University College Birmingham, in recognition of outstanding and meritorious service to UCB.
In addition, on behalf of the Academic Board of UCB, he has been made Visiting Professor of Culinary Arts in recognition of this contribution to the enhancement of learning and the development of hospitality education.

Professor Ray Linforth, the Principal of University College Birmingham said “An Honorary Fellowship is the highest honour that UCB can bestow and for his work in nurturing young chefs and promoting high quality locally sourced produce, David is a very worthy recipient. Because of his contribution to the education and training of our students we were delighted that he agreed to become our first Visiting Professor of Culinary Arts.”
We are so pleased that David’s work with young, aspiring chefs at the College and his encouragement and development of culinary talent has been recognised in this prestigious way! David is delighted that, as a Birmingham born and bred chef, he has received this honour, the first of its kind, to services to the local vocational university that has such a high national and international reputation.
