Amadeus Partners with Coventry Transport Museum

The NEC Group’s catering division teams up with The Midlands’ historic museum at Event UK

Prestigious commercial caterers, Amadeus, are partnering Coventry Transport Museum at this year’s Event UK, held at Birmingham’s NEC.

At Event UK the nation’s biggest event companies and venue representatives exhibit their individual brands. Coventry Transport Museum will be exhibiting alongside Amadeus to show off their unique event capabilities.

Coventry Transport Museum will be bringing an authentic Daimler double decker bus from their exclusive collection to Event UK. The double decker was the last rear entry commercial bus ever to be used in Coventry, and being an authentic Daimler the bus would have been built and manufactured in Coventry as well.

To compliment the authentic Daimler double decker, Amadeus’ award winning Chef John Berry created a replica bus out of pastry to exhibit alongside the original being provided by Coventry Transport Museum.

The two organisations will be presenting their display at Event UK 2008 to celebrate the partnership between Amadeus and Coventry Transport Museum.

This isn’t the first time Amadeus’ chefs have created a culinary piece of artistry. Early this year John Berry created an Indiana Jones character from marzipan, and last year he received a coveted award for a sculpture of Gandalf from JRR Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings made out of pastry. He has also made pastry sculptures of a Greek soldier and the sea God, Neptune.

Jayne Devlin, General Manager, Amadeus, said: “We are extremely proud of our affiliation with Coventry Transport Museum and feel that Event UK is the perfect platform from which to launch this partnership.”

Naomi Bryant, Events and Conferencing Manager at Coventry Transport Museum says, “Event UK is the perfect stage for us to exhibit what Coventry Transport Museum and Amadeus have to offer. The museum is a unique and unusual venue able to host a range of events and the partnership with Amadeus will further enhance the experience we are able to offer.”

Event UK is being held at The NEC on the 16th and 17th of September and will involve seminars given by celebrity guest speakers and captains of the industry.

Coventry Transport Museum is the number one museum of its kind in Britain. Coventry is the birthplace of the bicycle and has been the hub of British transport since cars became mass produced in this country. Coventry is also home to the classic Rolls Royce vehicle that has been the symbol of British motoring for nearly a century.

Amadeus are one the UK’s premier catering companies, providing quality and bespoke catering for up to 4.4 million people a year.
