New presenter joins Midlands' biggest radio station
Matt Jarvis will join the Midlands airwaves presenting the Overnight Show from 2am - 6am on 100.7 Heart fm starting Monday 18th September.
Matt was born in Stevenage and grew up in Peterborough. Bizarrely he never wanted to work in radio! From a very early age he actually dreamt of being a car salesman, although he has no idea why! Then at the age of 16, Matt was invited to Peterborough’s Hospital Radio Station, and from that moment he never looked back.
In 1998 Matt presented at Lite FM in Peterborough, and after only a year, he was asked to host the Breakfast Show; at the age of 19! In September 2001, he was poached by Hereward FM, where he went to present the Drive Show. Matt did a great job and in no time, he made the show the most listened to in the area. He was promptly moved to host the Breakfast Show on Hereward FM, which he has done for the last five years.
Now 26, Matt has joined Heart and he’ll be presenting the overnight show. When Matt was 17 he worked nights in a print factory: “Working through the night I know how important it is to feel that other people are alive at that time of the day, so I’m really looking forward to entertaining listeners at that time.”
He has moved to Birmingham City Centre with girlfriend Caroline, although he’s no stranger to the area. Matt has many friends in both Wolverhampton and Birmingham so he’s already familiar with the great nightlife and shopping.
Matt’s passion is cars and he would love to own an Aston Martin one day. He also enjoys going to the cinema, eating out, going to bars and pubs and he loves cooking (so it’s round to Matt’s for dinner then!) Matt is also currently learning to speak Spanish.
Andrew Robson, Programme Director for 100.7 Heart fm, said: "Matt has a wealth of experience in creating great radio, I'm delighted he has decided join the team at Heart. I know he can't wait to get on the air and have some fun!"
