Bland is banned at The ICC
For one week only the phrase ‘it’s nice’ will be banned from the halls of the UK’s leading convention centre.
Employees at Birmingham’s ICC will veto the saying from their vocabulary to mark the launch of the venue’s bold new advertising campaign, tagged ‘Bland is banned’.
Teams across The ICC and its sister venues - the NEC and NIA - voted to decide the most uninspiring phrase used in everyday conversation.
‘It’s nice’ scooped 31 per cent of the votes, followed closely by ‘I don’t mind’ and ‘It’s up to you’.
This proves The ICC's commitment to providing organisations with all the ingredients to create a conference which is anything but bland. Boasting the UK’s largest selection of facilities under one roof, including 11 halls and 10 executive meeting rooms, combined with highly experienced planners, The ICC offers the complete package.
Nick Waight, director of The ICC, said: “We want to bring conferences to life. They can be exciting, motivational tools and are an excellent way to get messages across.
“Bland is banned is a confident statement from The ICC which we hope will make people smile and raise standards through communication.”
