‘Make your Mark with Art’ by Charlotte Latham
8 September – 20 October 2007
Renowned fine artist, Charlotte Latham, is installing a Charity based exhibition at the contemporary art gallery, Three White Walls in The Mailbox. ‘Make your Mark with Art,’ is more than your average art exhibition as the hands-on approach allows the public to help create the works of art for four great causes. Four different mediums will be set up in aid of four nominated Charities which all have a personal connection to Latham. Each member of the public making a donation to the Charity will be given the tools to ‘Make their Mark,’ on the art. The chosen Charities are The Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths (FSID), Cancer Research UK, The Miscarriage Association and Epilepsy Action. The mediums include tying a ribbon, creating a handprint, ink blowing and sculpting with clay. There is a unique way for everyone young or old to make their mark!
Latham comments, “Make your Mark with Art is a unique idea which I hope will capture not only the hearts of the nation but also raise more awareness and support for each charity involved. With ‘Make your Mark with Art’ I want to help make a difference through the industry that I know best. Each and every one of us will need help at some point in our lives…” This exhibition is a great opportunity for the public to work in collaboration with this internationally recognised artist. The artworks will be gifted along with the proceeds to each Charity on the closing night of the exhibition in October.

"FSID is honoured to be one of the charities represented in such a creative and exciting way at the ‘Make your Mark with Art,’ exhibition. We hope it will inform more people of who we are, and remind them that cot death is not a thing of the past, but still the biggest killer of babies over one month old in the UK."
Pam O'Brien, Events Manager, Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths
"We are delighted that Cancer Research UK is one of the appointed charities benefiting from 'Make your Mark with Art’. It will be a fantastic exhibition and is a really imaginative way to raise both awareness and vital funds to help us save lives".
Miranda Williams, Cancer Research UK local representative
"The artwork for our charity will be called ‘Hand of Hope’, which is a wonderful idea! Miscarriage is such a hidden loss, and the grief and sadness it can cause is rarely acknowledged. Charlotte Latham's installation offers a unique opportunity to mark the brief lives of babies who died before they were born."
Ruth Bender Atik, National Director, The Miscarriage Association
“We think this is going to be a fantastic event and we are looking forward to seeing each finished piece of art work. We would like to thank Charlotte for all the time and effort she has put into organising this event for us and the other charities. The money raised will help fund vital advice and information for the 456,000 people in the UK living with epilepsy."
