Icon Brand returns to the Pallasades

For those who remember the 1970’s it was the decade Jimi Hendrix died, the miners striked and Heathrow welcomed the first ‘jumbo jet’, and in Birmingham in 1972 the great Ikon Gallery opened in the Birmingham Shopping Centre, now known as The Pallasades.

The long-established and much celebrated gallery is once again returning to The Pallasades Shopping Centre for a one off exhibition, running from 21st July until 5th September, and will be presenting Seeing the Unseen: Photographs and Films, artwork by photographer and scientist Harold E. Edgerton.

Jonathan Cheetham, general manager for The Pallasades feels the exhibition, which will be showcased across units 39-40 (next door to Peacocks), will give Birmingham shoppers a great insight into the Ikon brand. He states: “It’s a wonderful honour to host the Ikon Gallery at our centre and I believe the display will prove to be very interesting and will attract a wide variety of people.”

In addition to the exhibition there will be a number of talks hosted at The Pallasades exhibition. The lectures are free and will be given by Pete James, head of photography for the Central Library Birmingham, Jonathan Shaw, photographer and associate head of media & communication for Coventry University and artist Trevor Appleson. These will take place on Sunday 8th August and Sunday 22nd August from 2pm.

To find out more about the exhibition and to reserve your place at the talks, please contact Ikon on 0121 248 0708.
