Explore Tolkein’s Warwick and experience the origins of Middle Earth at Warwick Castle
Warwick Castle’s trade team is to launch a new J.R.R Tolkein themed tour for groups. This brand new tour is available to pre-booked groups of 10 or more and forms part of a new 90min suggested itinerary at the Castle.
Groups will climb the Castle towers and ramparts and explore the outside of the Barbican and Gatehouse whilst tracing the influence of Warwick’s mighty defence structures on the literary Castles of Isengard, Minas Tirith, Amon Sul and Edoras from Tolkein’s fantasy fictions classics..
The tour combines Tolkein’s fascination with Warwick Castle with the historical figures from Warwick whose lives can be traced from the Castle to the pages of Tolkein’s most famous works.

The new tour marks the very first time that Warwick’s links with Tolkein have been fully explored and offers a brand new way to experience the iconic attraction.
