Step out in your pyjamas for children with cancer
Children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent is asking Birmingham families to get their PJs on and parade around the park in aid of children with cancer during Yummy Mummy Week 2006 (16-24 September).
The grand Yummy Mummy Pyjama Parade will take place at Cannon Hill Park (near Edgbaston cricket ground) at 2pm on Saturday 16th September. Participants can do a sponsored toddle, stroll or speed walk – just as long as they’re wearing pyjamas! Families need to raise at least £50 in sponsorship money to take part, or they can organise a parade in their local area. All money raised will go to CLIC Sargent to help the 10 children who are diagnosed with cancer or leukaemia every 48 hours.
Sponsored by zylom.com, the only games and puzzles website dedicated to women, Yummy Mummy Week 2006 is all about mums getting together for good times with friends and family while raising money for children with cancer. This is the first time families can take part in Yummy Mummy Pyjama Parades, which are also taking place in Belfast, Bristol, Glasgow, London and Prestwick.
Carol Smillie, TV presenter and face of Yummy Mummy Week 2006, says: “Grab your family and friends, put your PJs on and join me in the park for a Yummy Mummy Pyjama Parade. You can toddle, push prams, power walk or anything in between. It’s just about being together and enjoying yourselves out in the fresh air.”
CLIC Sargent acts as a lifeline keeping families together when the unimaginable happens. Yummy Mummy Week 2006 aims to raise more than £400,000 in total: that’s enough to fund 17 CLIC Sargent family support workers for a whole year.
zylom.com is proud to support Yummy Mummy Week 2006 and has created an easy way to “click-start” your fundraising – a special Yummy Mummy Mirror Magic game. You’ll find the Yummy Mummy Mirror Magic game at www.zylom.com/yummymummy and, for each one sold, zylom.com will donate £5 to Yummy Mummy Week 2006.
You can also support Yummy Mummy Week 2006 by buying Yummy Mummy goodies for kids and adults, or joining a sponsored walk during the Ramblers’ Association’s “Welcome to Walking Week” (also 16-24 September).
