Brum Property Hot Spot

Birmingham is one of the UK’s leading property hotspots, says a survey by top property consultants DTZ and the leading magazine of the commercial property industry, Property Week.

The survey researched how developers, bankers, investors and occupiers envisage the property market of the future. Birmingham came second only to London as the UK property city of the future, ahead of Manchester, Bristol , Edinburgh and Leeds. And 19% of occupiers polled ranked Birmingham as worthy of the accolade, the highest occupiers’ score after London.

Cabinet Member for Regeneration Councillor Ken Hardeman said, “Birmingham is a successful city, with £9bn of investment keeping-up the momentum of development and much more in the pipeline. Masshouse is well underway, Colmore Plaza is making progress and work is starting on Snow Hill. A key site on Great Charles street has just been snapped up for a sum far exceeding expectations. And with the successful planning application for Martineau Galleries, Birmingham is set for a development which will be bigger than the Bullring.

“This accolade from occupiers and investors shows that we are hard on London’s heels as the UK property city of the future. Birmingham is proving to be a can-do city and developers recognise that.”
