Dinosaur Sleepover at Thinktank
On Saturday 29 August 2009, families are invited to come along to Thinktank, Birmingham Science Museum to take part in a sleepover with a difference! To celebrate the final weekend of the highly successful BBC Walking With Dinosaurs Exhibition, visiting families can spend the night in the museum and take part in a range of fun dinosaur-themed workshops, shows and other activities.
Throughout the evening, families will be able to get up close to some prehistoric monsters in the exciting BBC Walking With Dinosaurs Exhibition, take part in ‘Busting the Myths’ the dinosaur-themed family science show, take a trip through the night sky in the digital Planetarium and check out the 200+ hands-on exhibits within the museum. Plus, over at the IMAX Cinema, visitors will see monsters of the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous reawakened on the giant IMAX screen in eye-popping 3D format with Dinosaurs Alive! 3D.
All activities and shows included in the ticket price are optional, and they will be a range of other storytelling, handling sessions and other activities for visitors to take part in. After a jam-packed evening of prehistoric fun, exhausted families will be sleeping amongst the historical collections in the museum.
Dr Kenny Webster, Resident Scientist at Thinktank comments “Sleepovers are always really popular, and the idea of spending the night in the museum is something that seems to capture the imagination of kids of all ages. Our dinosaur-themed events and activities have gone down really well with visiting families. We will just have to hope that our dinosaurs are not too hungry that night!”
A limited number of tickets are still available for this dino-sleepover event on Saturday 29 August, 6.00pm – 9.00am. Tickets cost £30 per person.
The BBC Walking With Dinosaurs Exhibition will be open daily from 10.00am – 5.00pm (last admission 4.00pm) until Monday 31 August 2009 and is free to Thinktank ticket holders.
Thinktank is open 7 days a week.
