Visitor Numbers Booming at Thinktank

Thinktank, Birmingham Science Museum today announces record visitor numbers for May 2009.  The award-winning museum, currently hosting the BBC Walking With Dinosaurs Exhibition, welcomed over 22,500 visitors throughout the month of May, beating all previous records for the same period since opening back in 2001.

Dr Nick Winterbotham, Chief Executive of Thinktank and Millennium Point comments “The new dinosaur exhibition is proving very popular with both families and school groups and we are really pleased to announce such great visitor numbers in the past month.  It seems although the current economic climate is deterring people from making certain purchases, a great-value, fun day out with all the family is something people are not willing to miss out on. Recent customer research tells us that the average time spent in Thinktank is over three hours, and with a family ticket under £30 we still provide one of the best value days out in the region.”

The BBC Walking With Dinosaurs Exhibition now open daily until Monday 31 August 2009 explores the science and technology behind the award-winning TV series.  Full-sized dinosaur replicas have been especially created for the exhibition so visitors can see these prehistoric wonders up close.  The exhibition features some spectacular models, including a six metre long Plateosaurus skeleton, a T.rex skull, a huge Triceratops skull, real fossils that are over 100 million years old, and a seven metre long replica of the UK's largest carnivorous dinosaur – Megalosaurus.

Weekends and school holidays, families can also enjoy a wide range of dinosaur themed events and activities.

The BBC Walking With Dinosaurs Exhibition is open daily from 10.00am – 5.00pm (last admission 4.00pm) and is free to Thinktank ticket holders. Some activities may incur an additional cost.

Thinktank is open 7 days a week.
