NEC Group catering tees-off three year deal
It’s a hole-in-one for Amadeus, The NEC Group’s external catering business, who have secured a three-year contract to supply catering services to the Barclays Scottish Open, held at Loch Lomond, Scotland, from 12-15 July, 2007.
The deal means that Birmingham-based Amadeus will be responsible for providing the catering for sponsors, corporate hospitality patrons and their guests, spectators, the media, and 156 professional golfers from around the world.
Working on the prestigious tournament gives the Amadeus team a unique logistical challenge. To feed everyone involved in the competition, nine kitchens and eleven restaurants will be set up in marquees in the grounds, with some £500,000 of equipment and resources being transported over the border from The NEC.
Jayne Devlin, general manager, Amadeus, said: “It’s hugely exciting to have secured this contract for a further three years and to be working with the European Tour again. There are going to be about 80,000 hungry people that need feeding during the tournament, so the scale and profile of this event means that we’re really pulling out all the stops.”
“Contracts are usually only renewed one year at a time, but the European Tour visited The NEC and were really impressed with the solid commitment to the catering brand, the experienced team, and the ongoing investment and development. All of this, along with the past experience of catering for the event gave them the confidence to sign us for the next three years.”
Peter Adams, championship director, Barclays Scottish Open said: “We are very pleased that we have been able to reach agreement with Amadeus to continue to provide catering services at The Barclays Scottish Open. We have a long standing, highly successful relationship and we look forward to working with Amadeus to further develop the excellence of this prestigious Championship”.
This is the seventh year that Amadeus have provided catering for the prominent tournament, which is offering a total prize fund of £3 million, with a first prize of £500,000.
