Bombay Sapphire launch exclusive design partnership with Malmaison

Celebrating its links with the global design community, Bombay Sapphire is hosting its Partners In Design event at Birmingham’s most stylish and sumptuously designed hotel, the Malmaison, from 2nd – 29th July. The month long event features an exhibition showcasing glass designs from some of the world’s foremost contemporary designers, including nine striking finalist entries from the prestigious Bombay Sapphire Prize – the world’s biggest annual international award celebrating excellence in glass.

Bombay Sapphire Partners In Design is a 360° design experience encompassing:
• An exhibition in the Malmaison
• ‘Cocktails By Design’, informative interactive design and cocktails evenings
• Bombay Sapphire Inspired Dining at the Malmaison restaurant
• Exclusively inspired Bombay Sapphire cocktails in selected premium bars throughout the city

The design exhibition will be taking place at the Malmaison daily and the Bombay Sapphire Design Ambassador will be in attendance each day to discuss any design queries that attendees may have. The exhibition is free to attend and available to members of the public in addition to Malmaison guests.

For true connoisseurs of design, decadent cocktails and fine dining, the Malmaison will be hosting a series of ‘Cocktails By Design’ evenings. The evenings will include an inspirational talk and tour of the design exhibition and an interactive cocktail mixing and tasting session with Bombay Sapphire’s professional mixologists. Once guests have perfected the art of making the perfect martini cocktail they’ll be able to take their own cocktail making kit away to impress their friends at home. Tickets to the ‘Cocktails By Design’ evenings are priced at £10. For an additional £10 attendees can also have a Bombay Sapphire inspired two-course meal in the Malmaison restaurant.

The Malmaison Restaurant is creating a botanically inspired food pairing menu, matching a Bombay Sapphire cocktail with one dish from each course. Bombay Sapphire’s delicate, yet crisp, taste and uniquely balanced botanicals make it perfect for food pairing.

Example Inspired Pairing Menu:
• Black Pudding with caramelized apple and local dry cured bacon
• Cocktail: Sapphire pear and ginger rickey
• Willow Game pie
• Cocktail: Sapphire Blueberry and basil martini cocktail
• Sea Bass Leek and Potato broth
• Cocktail: Sapphire cucumber and kiwi martini with bruised dill
• Chocolate fondant Souffle
• Cocktail: Sapphire Lemon curd and mint martini

The ingredients for each cocktail will be seasonal and local, where possible. The dishes and paired cocktails will feature on the Malmaison ’Homegrown and Local’ menu throughout the event. Malmaison mixologists will also be creating a bespoke Bombay Sapphire inspired cocktail to be served in the Malmaison Bar. To compliment this, other premium bars throughout Birmingham will be creating their own Bombay Sapphire botanically inspired cocktails.

Bombay Sapphire

• Unlike most gins, which boil their botanicals directly in the spirit to achieve their taste, Bombay Sapphire is distilled alone and the 10 uniquely combined botanicals from around the world are infused to achieve a much greater subtlety of taste. Based on a secret recipe from 1761, Bombay Sapphire is produced by passing the spirit vapour through the botanicals, which are held separately from the spirit in a perforated copper basket. This process known as Vapour Infusion allows the gentle absorption of each of the aromatic flavours, resulting in a wonderfully balanced, crisp yet delicate finish; creating a versatility unmatched by other gins that can be savoured on its own, in a classic martini cocktail, or in mixed cocktails.
