New Aer Lingus Service is a Cork-er!
Birmingham International Airport and Aer Lingus has celebrated the launch of a new thrice weekly service to Cork in Southern Ireland. The new service, launched yesterday (Tuesday), complements Birmingham’s existing portfolio of flights to Ireland and Aer Lingus’ current operation to Dublin which operates three times daily.
The Cork flights operate each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday using a 174-seat A320 aircraft. The flights depart from Birmingham at 15:10, arriving in Cork at 16:20. The return sector leaves Cork at 13:30, getting back into Birmingham at 14:35.
Passengers checking-in for the inaugural departure from Birmingham were welcomed by Airport and Airline representatives who gave out complimentary Irish themed snacks and drinks and were entertained by the Irish Fiddle Playing British Champion, Kieren Harris, and the Irish Figure Dancing World Champion, Orla Brennan.
Peter Vella, Business Development Director commented on the new service, “Aer Lingus is one of BIA’s longest serving airlines, operating from the Airport since 1949 and serving a vital link for around 300,000 travellers each year. Cork has so much to offer - fantastic scenery, bike tours and the opportunity to kiss the Blarney Stone at Blarney Castle. We’re really pleased to be able to celebrate this additional service with Ireland’s national carrier and to offer more choice to those wanting to access Ireland from Birmingham.”
Commenting on the new service Aer Lingus Commercial Director, Enda Corneille said, “This new service from Birmingham to Cork compliments our longstanding daily service to Dublin airport. The addition of this new service demonstrates our continued commitment of offering low fares with a greater choice of destination and is in direct response to customer demand.”
