Warwick International Festival
The 2008 Festival presents young talented performers at variousstages of their musical careers. The Carnival Band, Henry VIII’sRock ‘n’ Roll Band, collaborate with Warwickshire County Music Service’s Youth Waits in a day long workshop, culminating in anevening performance at the Lord Leycester Hospital.
On the same day,AC Academy, Armonico Consort’s new educational project, performfor the first time, utilising African drumming along with AC Academy’s100 plus strong vocal group.The Festival presents Matthew Wadsworth, a wonderfully talentedyoung lutenist; and Julian Bliss, already a highly successful young clarinettist.Headline artists for 2008 include Armonico Consort withNicola Benedetti; Oddsocks Productions’ madcap performancesof Much Ado About Nothing; Armonico Consort Opera’s brandnew production of Purcell’s Dido & Aeneas coupled with Lully’s LeBourgeois Gentilhomme; Humphrey Lyttelton and his Band and Germaine Greer discussing Anne Hathaway, Shakespeare’s much misunderstood spouse.
Warwick International Festival is delighted to be working again withWarwick Castle, who will be presenting a trio of high profile events inits glorious grounds, including Girls Aloud, Welsh National Operaand a Queen spectacular, featuring the cast of We Will Rock You.On the last weekend of the Festival, we present One Mad Saturday,an extravaganza of street theatre, stilt walking, juggling, personalstage shows and much more wackiness - all free to the public!
