Aircrews to be offered perfect environment to rest in Birmingham
Aircrew on stopovers in Birmingham are to be given the perfect environment to sleep and relax when a leading hotel becomes the first in the city to offer dedicated bedrooms for airline staff.
The Crowne Plaza Birmingham City Centre, which is undergoing a £16 million refurbishment programme, is to set aside 30 bedrooms that have improved noise insulation and black out curtains.
These rooms will be on a floor accessible only to airline and hotel staff, meaning that pilots and flight attendants can rest at any time of the day or night with the assurance that their sleep will not be disturbed.
The Crowne Plaza Birmingham City Centre will also offer additional storage space in the bedrooms to accommodate pilots’ cases and luggage, and the restaurant will have special menus for flight crews.
Airline staff with a need to connect to their company systems via high speed Internet access will be able to use links from the bedrooms or from the exclusive Club lounge, where crews will be able to relax with a selection of complimentary refreshments.
“We recognise the need for aircrews to be assured that their rest will be undisturbed during stopovers,” said the Crowne Plaza Birmingham City Centre’s general manager Michael Mason.
“As Birmingham Airport expands and, with the proposed runway extension expecting to attract more long-haul flights, the need for pilots and flight attendants to rest in the city will increase.
“The Crowne Plaza Birmingham City Centre will be the perfect hotel – we will have the best rooms, high levels of service and a central location from where guests can explore the heart of the city.”
The ‘all new’ Crowne Plaza Birmingham City Centre at Central Square is operated by Liverpool-based hotel developer Centre Island and can be found on the Web at www.crowneplazabirmingham.com
