Topping Out at Eleven Brindleyplace Signals the Home Straight for New Office Building

Argent and HBG Construction hosted a topping out ceremony at Eleven Brindleyplace, marking a symbolic milestone in the life of the award-winning development’s newest landmark office building.

The ceremony was attended by representatives from the companies instrumental in delivering the 110,000 sq ft of Grade A office development located in Brunswick Square, as well as invited guests and council dignitaries.

The 12-storey building will represent the latest phase of the hugely successful Brindleyplace development, created by regeneration specialists Argent, and is on course to be completed in February next year.

James Heather, Argent’s project director for Eleven Brindleyplace, said the topping out ceremony represented an important day for the entire project.  He said: “The significance of this ceremony not only means the building has reached its highest point but perhaps more importantly that it is on programme to be completed on schedule – a testament to the great work from all involved in the design, planning and construction of the project.

“Argent has been developing Brindleyplace for more than a decade and we believe Eleven Brindleyplace will play a key role in securing the Estate’s reputation as the region’s premier business and leisure destination. The topping out ceremony gives everyone involved a chance to view the progress and celebrate the project’s success to date.”

Designed by internationally-renowned Glenn Howells Architects, Eleven Brindleyplace will provide a striking, contemporary addition to the 1.1 million sq ft city centre development.  The building will be a move away from materials traditionally used at Brindleyplace and will feature a fully glazed office façade with bronze anodised aluminium framing and stone panelling.
Eleven Brindleyplace will provide a much needed flexible option for business looking for Grade A office space in Birmingham city centre with the added benefit of being the first building to be delivered within the city that is BREEAM ‘Excellent’.

The adaptable floorplates of around 8,500 sq ft will allow occupiers to take advantage of shorter, more flexible leases. The building will also offer serviced meeting rooms for internal and external use and an upmarket business lounge on the ground floor. The ground floor will also provide an enhanced leisure offer for Brindleyplace.

Ian French, from HGB Construction, the company responsible for the construction of the £40m building, said: “Eleven Brindleyplace is an extremely complex project due to its striking design and location at the entrance of the Estate so we are delighted to have reached this milestone and look forward to delivering the building for Argent at the beginning of next year.”
Already offering more than 1.1 million sq ft of office space, 30 restaurants, bars and cafés as well as leisure and recreational facilities, Brindleyplace is internationally recognised as a benchmark for urban regeneration and has been responsible for leading the way in Birmingham’s continued transformation.

Brindleyplace is currently owned by the Brindlyplace Limited Partnership, a collection of assorted investors including Argent which originally developed the site and now manages it on behalf of the investors.

Joint agents for Eleven Brindleyplace are GBR Property Consultants and GVA Grimley.
Argent will complete Eleven Brindleyplace by February 2009 and continue to manage the Estate while also progressing with a number of other projects including Paradise Cirus alongside Birmingham City Council following the £2m transformation of Paradise Forum inside the old Central Library complex.
