Managing Director of a Public Relations agency has accepted a visiting fellowship with UCE Birmingham

The Managing Director of a leading Birmingham Public Relations agency has accepted a prestigious appointment at UCE Birmingham.

Julia Willoughby is to take up the honorary post of Visiting Fellow of the Department of Media and Communication, which is based at the University’s Perry Barr campus.

While continuing to run her own highly successful top 100 PR agency in Edgbaston, Julia will also make time to offer advice and guidance to students studying an industry-approved course in public relations at the University.

Department Acting Head, Dr Peter Windows, said: “Julia’s contribution over the last two years as chair of our PR advisory panel has been invaluable.

“Her acceptance of this post means we will be able to do even more to prepare graduates for careers in public relations.” Public relations is a creative discipline which is growing in the West Midlands at a faster rate than anywhere outside London.

Julia Willoughby is Managing Director of Willoughby Public Relations (WPR), a leading consultancy with a head office in Birmingham and satellite office in Nottingham.

Julia added: “Investment in training and developing graduates is ital to ensure we recruit outstanding individuals into the growing public relations profession. I enjoy being involved with the lectures and students through the first CIPR accredited public relations course in the region. UCE Birmingham has worked hard to develop links with professionals and this is paying off with better student prospects and more young talent choosing to develop careers in the region.“
