Music at the Heart of the Lord Mayor’s Show
Tributes to rockstars from across the decades will be one of the highlights of this year’s Lord Mayor’s Show which takes place in Birmingham’s premier park, Cannon Hill Park on Sunday 28 and Monday 29. Killer Queen, Rat in the Kitchen and a tribute to Elvis will be appearing free on stage at the family friendly event on Monday.
The Lord Mayor’s Show welcomes in the new Lord Mayor, Councillor Mike Sharpe and bids farewell to the outgoing Lord Mayor, Councillor John Hood.
Organised by the Lord Mayor’s Show Committee and supported by Birmingham City Council, the celebrations include a funfair, stalls, children’s entertainment, the Castle Vale and Erdington Performing Arts Arena, arts and craft marquee, the Army village (with inflatable assault course), bar facilities and (Sunday only) the finale for the BRMB Big Brum Walk.
Sunday’s live music is brought to the park by BRMB. The BRMB roadshow will keep the crowds entertained, cheering on walkers crossing the finishing line of the BRMB Big Brum Walk. Capital Gold presenters will be comparing the entertainment on Sunday.
Lord Mayor elect, Councillor Mike Sharpe said: “The Lord Mayor’s Show is a great weekend of free entertainment, in one of our most beautiful parks. As well as being great fun for all the family, it provides an enormous opportunity to raise money for the Lord Mayor’s charities."
The Lord Mayor’s Show (Sunday 28 and Monday 29 May) starts at 12noon and finishes at 6pm. More information is available from 0121 303 3008 or at www.birmingham.gov.uk/spring.
