BBC Wildlife Presenter Ellie Harrison attends Premiere Event to officially open Birmingham's First 4-D Cinema

BBC wildlife presenter Ellie Harrison was at the National Sea Life centre this week to host the European premiere of Planet Earth: Shallow Seas
4-D Experience in Birmingham’s first 4-D Cinema.

VIP guests dived into the cinema for an all-senses underwater adventure as whales and dolphins leapt from the screen and they were splashed by the sea spray.

School children who attended the premiere from Pheasey Park Farm and Palfrey Junior Schools had worked together to produce artwork about whales and dolphins.

Ellie Harrison, who presented the children with goodie bags and certificates for their efforts said, “The work the children have produced is fantastic and they thoroughly deserved their treat at the Sea Life Centre’s amazing new 4D cinema.”

Also at the premiere was Chief Executive of the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society Chris Butler-Stroud who talked about how Sea Life and WDCS plan to work together to help these majestic creatures.

“We look forward to working with Sea Life Centres across the country as part of their ‘Save Our Seas’ campaign.  It’s particularly pleasing that Birmingham’s new feature will give people special encounters with whales and dolphins that will then hopefully encourage them to support the cause even further”.

In the Shallow Seas programme audiences will surf the coast with Atlantic bottlenose dolphins, track a mother humpback whale and her calf as they navigate from their tropical nursery to the Arctic Circle, plus glide alongside a cast of balletic sea lions as they dive through vast swirling bait balls of anchovy. There’s also the chance to experience the greatest gathering of seabirds and whales ever captured in Digital HD.
