Another record year at Coventry Transport Museum

Coventry Transport Museum is delighted to announce that for the third year running a record number of visitors have passed through the Museum doors during 2008/9.
Numbers have reached a massive 367,485 including over 10,000 visitors to the Doctor Who exhibition during its first 19 days of opening. These visitor numbers for the year 1st April 2008 to 31stMarch 2009 make the Museum one of the most visited attractions in the region with visitors travelling from all over the West Midlands, the UK and even as far afield as Australia.

There is also success for the Museum’s shop, Past & Presents, which is becoming widely renowned for its range of unusual gifts, and for the recently opened Esquires Coffee House at the Museum which is proving a popular spot to take a break in the city centre.

Gary Hall, Chief Executive of Coventry Transport Museum said:

“We’re absolutely thrilled to have exceeded both last year’s record figure and our target during this period of financial instability. We pride ourselves on constantly changing the Museum and hosting exciting events and temporary exhibitions; in the last year alone we held six weeks of activities during the summer, held our inaugural Craft Fair, hosted the impressive Custom Bikes exhibition and helped the Midland Vehicle Preservation Society celebrate their 40th anniversary. There is always something new to see at the Museum, so we’re not surprised that people just keep on coming back and bringing their family and friends! We have the Doctor Who exhibition here until November and an exciting programme of events and temporary exhibitions planned for the rest of this year and into 2010, so we’re confident that more and more people will visit over the coming year.”
