Easter extravaganza at Drayton Manor
This Easter, Drayton Manor Theme Park, near Tamworth, Staffordshire, will be showcasing a number of new attractions to entertain the whole family.
Visitors to the theme park’s hugely popular Thomas Land™ will be able to watch as a brand new Discover Thomas & Friends™ exhibition is built in the barn on Farmer McColl’s farm. When finished, visitors will see Thomas and his friends go full steam ahead around the original model set from the highly acclaimed Thomas & Friends TV series - offering the ultimate experience for any Thomas the Tank Engine fan.
Europe’s first and only Thomas Land also features 12 rides based on the popular Thomas & Friends characters, such as Cranky’s Drop Tower, the Troublesome Trucks Runaway Coaster and a special Thomas the Tank Engine train ride. In addition to the rides, Thomas Land also has indoor and outdoor play areas, a restaurant and a shop.
Families who visit during the Easter holiday will also be amongst the first to experience the park’s brand new attraction – a sensational 152-seat 4D Cinema. The cinema allows the audience to watch a movie in 3D while seated in specially designed chairs, which react to scenes in the film by moving up and down, releasing sprays of water, bursts of air, bubbles and various smells.
The feature film is the award-winning Curse of Skull Rock, a family adventure that tells the story of Captain Scabb’s quest to find lost treasure. It won the Best Children’s Animated Film award at the prestigious Stuttgart Film Festival.
For the more adventurous, Drayton Manor Theme Park boasts some of the biggest, wettest and scariest rides around, such as The Bounty, G-Force, Maelstrom, Shockwave and Apocalypse.
Then once the excitement of the rides has got too much, families can enjoy a relaxing stroll about Drayton Manor Zoo and see a huge variety of animals from tigers and leopards, to snakes and spiders, as well as exotic birds, mischievous meerkats and playful penguins. There are also monkeys and primates, tapirs, ostriches and reindeer.
