Mozart’s classic opera The Marriage of Figaro will be beamed live from Covent Garden’s Royal Opera House to a big screen in Victoria Square, Birmingham as part of the BP Summer Big Screens Programme 2008.
Birmingham residents can watch the world-famous production on Wednesday 16 July at 7pm. The free event will be one of 19 screenings around the country this summer as thousands of people enjoy free world-class opera and ballet in their own local area.
Mozart’s classic comic opera The Marriage of Figaro will be beamed live from Covent Garden’s Royal Opera House on Wednesday 16 July at 7pm. Mozart’s energetic masterpiece has delighted audiences for centuries and remains as entertaining today as ever. David McVicar’s hugely successful production makes a welcome return with Charles Mackerras conducting a world-class cast.
The BP Summer Big Screen relays are a great opportunity for people to get together and enjoy wonderful ballet and opera for free – the events have continued to grow in popularity regardless of the UK’s notorious summer weather!
BP has supported the Big Screen live relays of opera and ballet performances direct from Covent Garden since 2000. The generous ongoing support of BP has allowed ROH to build a wider network of events around the country in order to broadcast live performances simultaneously to more people than ever before. The Royal Opera House has screened performances in the Covent Garden Piazza since 1987.
