SAND SCULPTURE COMES TO BIRMINGHAM
The Aston Events Centre is to host an International Sand Sculpture Festival from the 8th June until August 3rd 2008. The World Champion Sand Sculptor Ted Siebert and his team of International Sculptors will create a magical world of fun characters never seen before into a landscape of sports figures all designed around the Snowman character named SNABA
Ted Siebert has created some of the largest sand sculptures anywhere in the world and is recognized as one of the finest artists in this field. His company has broken no less than seven World Records. Many surprises await visitors to this the first Sand Sculpture Festival in the West Midlands. Thirty characters will surround a specially designed sculpture that Ted and his team will create as the centre piece of the festival.
These “Disney type “ characters will thrill and excite the many children that visit the Festival but also each and everyone of their parents, grandparents and other visitors. Provision will be made – for ticket holders only – to visit the Festival site prior to the official opening of the event and see the sculptors at work. Children will be encouraged to attend lectures and to experience the art of sand sculpting while visiting the Festival. Plans to have the Festival established as an annual event are under negotiation with Ted Siebert and his sand sculpting organization.
Plans to run a local competition in the local media are being discussed and images of the characters to be created in sand will be featured in the local media. To view the work of Ted Siebert and his sculptors visit www.siebert@sandsculpting.com
