Spectacular event set to get people dancing in the street

There promises to be dancing in the street at this year’s Lord Mayor’s Spectacular as the nationally acclaimed hit show, the Magic of Motown comes to Birmingham to headline the annual event.

The show, which will be held in Cannon Hill Park on Bank Holiday Monday, 26th May between 2pm and 10.30pm, looks set to be a wonderful family day out with live entertainment, craft stalls, army demonstrations and a family fun fair.

Visitors will also have the chance to watch three, 10 minute firework displays which will see three pyrotechnic companies go head-to-head in a Midlands’ heat of the British Fireworks Championships.

Another addition to this year’s event is the final of the F&C Urban Challenge Cup, a football tournament hosted by Birmingham City Football Club. They will also bring to the event an inflatable football pitch and community coaches offering advice and football training.

The event will be ticketed, with all money raised going to the current Lord Mayor, Cllr Randal Brew’s, chosen charities. The advanced tickets are on sale now priced at £10 family (two adults and three children) £3 adults, £2 concessions and under fives go for free.

Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Cllr Randal Brew who will have stepped down the week before the event and become the Deputy Lord Mayor said: “Whilst the Lady Mayoress and I are really looking forward to this event, it will also be a sad time for us as it will be our final key engagement as Cllr Chauhdry Rashid will become the new Lord Mayor on 20th May. We have had such a wonderful year and it will be lovely to meet everyone and thank them for all of their support.”
