The Lord Mayors Show 2007

Cannon Hill Park will be home to the fun and bustle of the Lord Mayors Show on Sunday 27th & Monday 28th May. Join Lord Mayor Elect Councillor Randal Brew as he takes on the Lord Mayor’s mantle for a year.

This free annual event returns to the Park for two days of fun for all the family.  There will be music, a funfair, inflatable slides and bouncy castles and children’s entertainment. Ten Pin from Star City will be bringing their mobile bowling alley, there will be quad bike rides and Innovation Station will be bringing their football training arena where you can have the speed an accuracy of your football skills tested. The Army will once again bring its Inflatable Assault Course, along with several recruitment teams.  There will also be a craft marquee and stalls.

On Sunday Castle Vale Community Centre will provide a full stage programme of entertainment, showcasing local talent including dance workshops from Astral Dance and a Salsa Dance workshop with a fashion show.  The Goldstar Cheerleaders and Centre Stage will be entertaining the crowds with their song and dance routines.  Music will be provided by bands Select FX and The Usual Suspects.

On Monday, the stage will take a trip back in time with a fantastic showcase of tribute bands including an Eighties Show, Bee Gees Magic, a Blondie Tribute band and Abba Magic – so if you fancy a bit of nostalgia put on your platforms and flares and pop along.

A great new addition to this year’s event will be the Libraries Your Reader’s Big Book Bash.  Young readers and their families can come along and meet their favourite authors, participate in workshops, have their face painted and learn more about the City Council’s Library Service.

Admission to the whole weekend is free. The event on both days start at 12 noon and go on to 6pm. Limited Car parking is free of charge at Holder’s Lane car park. Details can be found by calling 0121 303 3008 or www.birmingham.gov.uk.
