The troupe of Irish dancers and musicians were in Victoria Square providing passers-by with the chance to try their feet at a traditional Irish dance - all for a good cause.
Showing everyone how to perfect the Galway Reel were local dancers from Doherty Academy of Irish Dance accompanied by local musicians Mulligan & Mulligan and staff from O’Neill’s Broad Street.
Birmingham was one of four cities that took part in the national ‘Join the Jig’ campaign, with troupes also visiting city centre locations in Liverpool, Cardiff and Glasgow - all in the run up to this year’s St Patrick’s Day tomorrow.
“This was perfect way to start our St Patrick’s Day celebrations,” said Paddy Barton of O’Neill’s Broad Street. “And by working with Acorns Children’s Hospice we ensured that it’s not just the Patron Saint of the Emerald Isle who gets all the attention this March.”
‘Join the Jig’ was one of many fundraising activities occurring across the 62 O’Neill’s locations on and before St Patrick’s Day. For more information visit www.oneills.co.uk and become a fan on Facebook by visiting www.facebook.com/oneillspubs.
