Gavin Douglas and Jacob Kimmie bring a slice of Fashion week to Birmingham

Fashion traveled from London to Birmingham with the launch of Fazeley studios with the help of two of Birmingham’s fashion exports Gavin Douglas and Jacob Kimmie. The event celebrating the launch of the newest home for the creative industries in the UK became a platform for Gavin and Jacob to exhibit some key pieces from past collections.

Gavin Douglas took the opportunity to present some of his incredible creations from his costumes that were made for a production at London’s Royal Opera House in 2007. Part of Gavin’s exhibition also showcased pieces from his AW07/08 and AW08/09 collections.

Gavin Douglas was quoted  as saying “It was an honour to be asked to take part in exhibiting, I like the fact that designers such as myself along with other influential faces from creative industries have been invited to take part and have been recognised for their achievements.”

Jacob Kimmie showed his renowned ‘bullet’ dress which was modeled by supermodel Alek Wek at London Fashion Week as part of his SS09 collection. Jacob’s exhibition also included key pieces from his debut collection from AW07/08 along with his signature monochrome inspired garments from SS08.

When asked about the event, Jacob said “It was a great opportunity to be a part of a launch and exhibition that celebrates the creative industries, from fashion, film to photography. What I really enjoyed was the interaction between myself and the guests of the exhibitions and being able to talk about my garments”
