Norwegian Announces New Route from Poland to Birmingham International Airport
Norwegian, Scandinavia’s largest low cost carrier, has announced a new route from Warsaw, Poland, to Birmingham International Airport.
The new route commences on Tuesday 17 April and will be served three times a week* until 4 May when the frequency increases to four times a week. The 737-300 aircraft seating 148 people will be stationed in Warsaw and will depart on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
The Midlands business community can take advantage of the direct link and frequency of service while leisure travellers can enjoy city breaks in an extraordinary city rich in culture and history.
Norwegian’s first route from Poland to England supplements the airlines existing popular routes from Warsaw which include Oslo, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Bergen, Malaga, Alicante, Rome and Athens.
Commenting on the airlines expansion Norwegian’s CEO Bjorn Kjos said: “We are pleased with the response we have had in the Polish market so far and look forward to the new route to Birmingham starting in April. We are confident this new route from the capital of Warsaw to England’s second city will be popular with both business and leisure passengers. This new route further strengthens our current position of the ‘most dynamic carrier’ operating from Warsaw F. Chopin Airport – an Honorary Title we were awarded last month. We look forward to working with Birmingham Airport to make this route a success.”
Peter Vella, Business Development Director at Birmingham International Airport commented “We are pleased to welcome Norwegian, our eighth low cost airline, to Birmingham International Airport and provide a direct route to the capital of Poland - the biggest country in Central Europe. Leisure travellers will be able to enjoy city breaks in this historic destination while business customers can open new doors to trade and investment opportunities.”
Sam Warnock, Head of Regional Communications at Heart of England Tourism welcomed the announcement saying, “There is a growing Polish population in the region, and this new link will ensure that visiting friends and relatives can access the Heart of England directly, and experience iconic attractions such as Shakespeare, Warwick Castle, Wedgwood Visitor Centre and our World Heritage site of Ironbridge Gorge. This can only be good news for increased Polish visitors to the region.”
