CBYV Perform For The Queen
The City of Birmingham Young Voices (CBYV) hits the road on Monday 12 March when they perform at Westminster Abbey for Her Majesty The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and an audience of over 2000 guests. High Commissioners from the 52 Commonwealth countries will also attend the Commonwealth Observance Day service where renowned choral conductor David Lawrence will be leading the 70-strong CBYV in a performance of Eugene Skeef’s ‘Harmony’.
This is not the first time the CBYV have performed for royalty. In March 2005 the youngsters performed at Buckingham Palace in one of a series of concerts aimed at raising the status of music in Britain.
The City of Birmingham Young Voices, CBYV, was formed in April 1999 as a unique and exciting singing opportunity for the young people of Birmingham. Singers of any ability, from the ages of 13 to 21, are introduced to a rich variety of musical styles, whilst being provided with the highest standard of choral and musical training.
