Coventry Transport Museum to join Ideal Home Show Centenary Celeb
Coventry Transport Museum is delighted to join the celebrations for the 100th Ideal Home Show, providing cars and cycles for the History Channel's Century Street. This area will be a key feature of the show and takes visitors on a nostalgic journey, revealing the dramatic changes to our homes and lifestyles that have occurred since the Show first opened its doors in 1908.
Visitors will be able to see interiors and exteriors of homes, household items, toys and cars from the last hundred years, and Coventry Transport Museum will be taking a selection of cars and bicycles that capture the mood of the times. These include: a 1909 Edwardian open-topped Rover, a 1955 Standard Super Ten - a popular family car of the fifties, a 1913 BSA motorcycle, a 1920s trade bicycle, a turn of the century child's bicycle, and a 1950's 'Rudge' cycle for girls.
The Museum's collection is includes 274 cars, 94 motorcycles, over 200 cycles, 25,000 models and around a million archive and ephemera items, representing Coventry's unique heritage as the birthplace of British road transport. This alone makes it a must see for anyone interested in transport or industrial history. But the Museum is also one of the most popular visitor attractions in the Midlands welcoming visitors of all ages and interests, these wonderful exhibits are sure to be popular with 'Ideal Home' crowds.
