Birmingham City graduates establish Fashion Fusion Awards in supp

Birmingham City graduates Maria Sururr and Zeleka Sutherland are the two co-ordinators of this year’s Fashion Fusion Awards 2008, which will be held on Friday March 7 th at Adrian Boult Hall in Birmingham.
 
With Zeleka graduating in 2007 with a 2:1 honours BA in Media and Communications, and Maria graduating with a 1 st class honours BA in Media and Communications specialising in PR this year, and also the student of the year CIPR award winner. Together they have gained the support of such company’s as M.A.C. Cosmetics, Mailbox, Harvey Nichols, Company Magazine, Malmaison, G-STAR, JOY, Casobi, and Fashion Monitor along with many more.

 

Working with the six fashion courses in the Midlands, the event is aimed at exposing the creativity of undiscovered designers between 18 and 25 within this region, whilst raising money for the M.A.C Cosmetics Aids Fund.


Zeleka said, “Our aim is to put fashion from the Midlands on the map, we’re just as good as London and we need to retain our skilled talent.”

 

Hosted by Super Model Rachel Ritfeld, the event consists of six designers competing for the chance to be named Fashion Fusions Undiscovered, in which the decision will be made by the joint efforts of: London Fashion Week Gavin Douglas, Company Magazine’s Deputy Fashion Editor Kirsty Hathaway and Fashion Monitor’s Editor Emily Fleuriot.

 

The winner will receive a feature spread in Company magazine, work experience with Gavin Douglas and 6-12 months promotion by Erratic Events.

 

Erratic Events is an Events, Promotion and PR Company established by both Maria and Zeleka and is based in Birmingham, producing creative work which is untamed, unleashed and unrivalled.
